Ministry to advance digital transformation in transport and logistics
Addis Ababa, April 11, 2025 (FMC) – The Ministry of Transport and Logistics stated its ongoing efforts to modernize transport and logistics service delivery through digital technology expansion, with plans for further enhancement.
The Ministry of Transport and Logistics in collaboration with the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute has launched the Integrated Freight Transport Management System (IFTMS) on 10th April.
During the launch of the IFTMS, Minister of Transport and Logistics Alemu Sime noted the ongoing reforms to accelerate and enhance service delivery within the sector.
The minister emphasized the newly implemented system will be instrumental in modernizing and streamlining freight transport services and mentioned the upcoming digital technology implementations as part of the sector’s broader digitization.
Having confirmed the system’s on-time completion, Director General of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute Worku Gachena on his part noted that the institute will continue developing innovative technologies to improve service delivery and address existing challenges.
He expressed the institute’s commitment in developing artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance Ethiopia’s competitiveness in Africa, as called by ENA.
