MoU signed for online fundraising to GERD via FastPay app
Addis Ababa, April 10, 2025 (FMC) — The Ethiopian Diaspora Service and FastPay et app have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an instant, and streamlined online fundraising in support of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Director General of the Ethiopian Diaspora Service, Fitsum Arega and CEO of FastPay, Fitsum Tesfaye.
Speaking on the signing ceremony, Fitsum Arega expressed optimism about the app’s potential to significantly enhance fundraising efforts for the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) project.
Fitsum Tesfaye, for his part, emphasized the app’s role in streamlining the donation process.
He noted that it enables individuals and organizations worldwide to contribute with ease.
He highlighted that the app’s user-friendly interface empowers the Ethiopian diaspora to support GERD, a symbol of national unity and a driving force for economic development in Ethiopia and the broader region.
In a major step to strengthen its engagement and outreach, the Ethiopian Diaspora Service also unveiled a newly rebranded logo that reflects the agency’s evolving mission in line with ongoing national reforms.
The decision to replace the previous logo was driven by its outdated design, symbolic ambiguity, and the need for a stronger visual identity to enhance public trust and recognition.
The new logo features a modern aesthetic that aligns with federal standards while embodying national pride and official legitimacy.
