NBE Governor, leaders of Ethiopian commercial banks meet with GABV delegation

Addis Ababa, March 7, 2025 (FMC) — The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) Governor Mr. Mamo Mihretu hosted a visit by delegations from Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV)—a network of 70+ banks worldwide dedicated to inclusive and sustainable finance.

The engagement focused on key insights from GABV’s experience in values-based banking and financial inclusion, exploring sustainable finance models that can contribute to Ethiopia’s economic transformation, NBE said in a social media post.

A key highlight was also the exchange between GABV member banks CEOs and Ethiopian commercial banks on investment opportunities in the banking sector, aligning with Ethiopia’s ongoing financial sector reforms.

On the occasion, NBE reaffirmed its commitment to fostering strategic partnerships and promoting an inclusive, resilient, and investor-friendly banking environment.

The Global Alliance for Banking on Values is an independent association of ‘values-based banks’ with a shared mission to use finance to deliver environmental, social, and corporate governance positive outcomes.
