Oromia region distributes over 1,400 farm tractors to boost agricultural mechanization
Addis Ababa, April 7, 2025 (FMC) — The Oromia Regional State of Ethiopia distributed 1,402 farm tractors to farmers in Shashemene town on Monday, in a move aimed at enhancing agricultural mechanization across the region.
The event was attended by chief administrator of Oromia region Mr. Shimels Abdissa, other regional officials, farmers and other stakeholders.
The distribution was carried out based on requests submitted by individual farmers, cooperatives, and unions to the regional government, according to officials.
The Oromia Regional State Communications stated that the provision of tractors is part of a broader strategy to modernize the agriculture sector and increase productivity through mechanized farming.
