Over 9.6 mln quintals of soil fertilizer transported into Ethiopia from Djibouti Port
Addis Ababa, April 7, 2025 (FMC) — More than 9.6 million quintals of soil fertilizer have been transported into Ethiopia from the Port of Djibouti, according to the Ethiopian Maritime Authority.
The Authority reported that over 10.7 million quintals of fertilizer intended for the 2024/25 (2017/18 E.C.) cultivation season had arrived at the Port of Djibouti as of yesterday. Out of that amount, more than 9.6 million quintals have already been delivered into the country.
In addition, a vessel carrying 55,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer has docked at the port and has begun unloading.
The fertilizer imports are part of Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to ensure timely supply for the current agricultural season.
