PM Abiy meets with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Tô Lâm
Addis Ababa, April 15, 2025 (FMC) – As part of his official visit, PM Abiy Ahmed paid a courtesy call on the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, Tô Lâm, at the Party Central Committee Office earlier today.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on various political party matters and shared perspectives on national development and governance, the Office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia disclosed this afternoon.
Note that the Ethiopian Premier traveled to Hanoi on Monday afternoon for an official working visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
In a grand welcoming ceremony held earlier today, PM Abiy was received by Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính at the Presidential Palace in an official welcoming ceremony.
Following the ceremony, the two leaders and their respective delegations held a bilateral meeting, exchanging views on a range of issues, including updates on reforms undertaken in both countries and exploring economic and political areas for cooperation, particularly through experience sharing and investment.
The leaders also presided over a signing ceremony of cooperation documents, during which two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed on trade and education cooperation. Additionally, a civil aviation note was exchanged, paving the way for direct flights between Addis Ababa and Hanoi by Ethiopian Airlines.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s visit to Viet Nam marks the first official visit by a head of government since diplomatic relations were established between the two countries fifty years ago.
