PM Abiy’s visit to Somalia elevates cooperation of two countries to higher level: FM Gedion

Addis Ababa, February 27, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s visit to Somalia demonstrates the fact that the two countries have entered a new phase of cooperation and friendship, Foreign Affairs Minister Gedion Timotheos remarked.

It is to be recalled that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his delegation have today paid an official working visit to Somalia.

In his briefing regarding the visit, Foreign Minister Gedion said the visit is of great significance in elevating cooperation and ties between the two neighboring countries to a higher level.

Previous discussions and visits at various levels demonstrate the further strengthening of the countries’ cooperation, the minister added.

He said the visit has also provided a good opportunity for the two countries to take their cooperation in economic and other fields to a higher level.

The exchange of visits between the leaders has contributed to the improvement of bilateral relations which demonstrate their strong political commitment in this regard, Gedion noted.

The visit signifies Ethiopia’s strong desire to enhancing its relationships with Somalia, emphasizing its priority to neighboring countries and its constructive role to regional peace and development.
