Premier Abiy meets with President of Vietnam General Lương Cường
Addis Ababa, April 16, 2025 (FMC) – As part of his official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed paid a courtesy call on General Lương Cường, President of Vietnam, and Trần Thanh Mẫn, President of the National Assembly.
The discussions with both centered on shared experiences in state continuity, political cooperation, reform efforts, and exploring avenues to further strengthen bilateral ties and collaboration across multiple sectors, the Office of the Prime Minister stated on its social media page today.
Recall that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, alongside his high-level delegation, traveled to Hanoi on 14th April 2025 for an official working visit at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Since his arrival in Hanoi on Monday afternoon, PM Abiy Ahmed held meetings with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam at the Party Central Committee Office, To Lam. He is also participating at the 4th Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi.
His visit to the Southeast Asian country is the first visit to Việt Nam by a senior Ethiopian leader since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976, and also the first high-level delegation exchange between the two countries in seven years.
