President Taye expresses condolences over the death of Pope Francis

Addis Ababa, April 21, 2025 (FMC) — The FDRE President Taye Atske-Selassie has expressed his condolences over the death of Pope Francis who passed away today at the age of 88.

In a condolence message posted on his social media page, President Taye said he was deeply saddened by the death of the pontiff.

“It is with deep sadness that we learned the passing of Pope Francis,” the Ethiopian President noted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

“We express our deepest condolences,” he said, while remembering his life of service to faith, humanity and global peace.

President added, “May His Soul Rest in Peace and His Memory be Eternal.”
