Prosperity Party champions inclusivity for all Ethiopians, says Adem Farah
Addis Ababa, January 23, 2023 (FMC) – Adem Farah, Head of the Democratic System Building Center at the rank of Prime Minister and Vice President of the Prosperity Party, emphasized that the Prosperity Party is a genuinely national party that welcomes all Ethiopians without discrimination.
The 2nd Congress of the Prosperity Party commenced today in Addis Ababa and will run for three days under the theme “From Pledge to Practice.” The opening ceremony was attended by the party’s President, Abiy Ahmed (PhD), along with other vice presidents and senior leaders. Joining the event were also esteemed leaders from sister parties in neighboring countries and BRICS member nations, religious figures, community elders, and various distinguished guests.
During his address, Adem Farah highlighted that the Prosperity Party represents a new era in Ethiopian politics, characterized by balance and constructive dialogue. He articulated that the party aims to foster the overall prosperity of the nation, reaching out to all citizens to ensure their participation without distinction.
Adem noted the party’s ongoing commitment to enhancing democratic culture and promoting values of solidarity among Ethiopians, aiming for fair and sustainable benefits for everyone. He stated that the congress would serve as an opportunity to evaluate the promises made to the populace, affirming that it would be a pivotal platform for meaningful decisions and directions moving forward.
He reported progress in fulfilling commitments, such as exporting wheat products and implementing numerous people-centric initiatives. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude to the leaders of allied parties from various countries for their presence at the conference.
Reiterating the party’s ability to effectively tackle challenges, Adem noted how they’ve engaged the community to shift from adversity to opportunity. He highlighted the successes achieved since the last conference, including significant environmental initiatives through the Green Legacy Initiative, productivity enhancements, and the progress of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, development of modern tourism sites and renovation of the existing ones.
Moreover, he mentioned substantial efforts in nation-building to combat extremism and political instability, along with initiatives aimed at poverty reduction and job creation. Extensive discussions have been held to ensure the sustainability of these achievements and to address ongoing challenges. Adem indicated improvements in the party’s organization, operations, and financial management, promising that the conference would reassess the party’s standing and outline future pathways that connect the past, present, and future.
