Railway transport three-year strategic plan launched

Addis Ababa, January 24, 2025 (FMC) – The Ethiopia-Djibouti Railway S.C. today announced that a three-year strategic plan has been launched in in the presence of the company’s CEO, Engineer Takele Uma, and Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mr. Alemu Sime.

“As part of a transitional six-month plan, we are aiming to surpass our carry capacity from the previous year,” Engineer Takele said via a social media post after the launch evet.

The CEO added, “Introducing new capabilities, including a freight forwarding operation and a multinational initiative to improve railway efficiency, will play a vital role in enhancing our overall railway operations, thereby making a significant impact on logistics performance.”

Emphasizing the significance of the railway sector to Ethiopia’s economic development, Mr. Takele asserted that the sector requires a collaborative effort from various stakeholders and enhancements in security measures in a bid to enhance the speed for both passengers and freight transport.
