Road closures announced for 129th Adwa Victory commemoration

Addis Ababa, February 28, 2025 (FMC) – The Peace and Security Joint Task Force has finalized preparations for the 129th Adwa Victory Commemoration, scheduled for March 2, 2025, at the Adwa Victory Memorial in the Piazza area.

To manage traffic and reduce congestion, the Addis Ababa Police will implement road closures on the day of the event, encouraging drivers to seek alternative routes. The following roads will be closed from 6:00 PM on March 2 until 1:30 PM on March 3:

– The approach to the Adwa Victory Memorial via Churchill Street and Tewodros Square will be closed at Banco di Roma.

– Arat Kilo to the memorial via Ras Mekonnen Bridge will be closed at the bridge.

– Access from Menen area and Yekatit 12 Hospital through Afincho Ber will be closed at Afincho Ber.

– The route from Iri Bekentu via the Electric Building will be closed at Degol Square.

– Access from Addisu Gebeya via Semen Hotel will be closed near the traffic light by Semen Hotel.

– The route from Merkato via Abune Petros Monument will be closed at Dejazmach Habtegiorgis Bridge.

– The approach from Enkulal Fabrika via St. John Church will be closed at St. John’s Light.
