South Sudanese students receive warm farewell as they prepare for scholarship in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, February 10, 2025 (FMC) – The Ethiopian Embassy in Juba bade farewell for South Sudanese Students who got scholarship offered by the government of Ethiopia, the Embassy confirmed today.

For the academic year 2024/2025, the Government of Ethiopia grants scholarship for 110 TVET undergraduate program students out of 644 scholarship awarded for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs for 2024/2025 academic year in different fields based on amended MOU signed recently between the Ministry of Education of Ethiopia and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of South Sudan.

During the farewell program in Juba, Ambassador of Ethiopia to South Sudan, Nebil Mahdi, expressed his sincere congratulation for students who are awarded the scholarship programs.

The Ambassador assured the commitment of the government to continue enhancing the bilateral relation in capacity building and human development. He also pleaded the students to go with sole vision and mission and to come and serve their beloved country after the Completion of their respective studies in Ethiopia.

For his part, Prof. Touch Liem, South Sudan’s Director General of Training and External Relations at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, appreciated the continued support of the government of Ethiopia, especially in Education and Capacity Building Programs.

He urged the students to focus on their studies and to sustain the legacy of the former Alumni’s. The Director General encouraged the students to feel at home in Ethiopia since they are going to their second home.
