Tajikistan praises Ethiopia’s immense role in fostering African unity
Addis Ababa, February 18, 2025 (FMC) – The Republic of Tajikistan on Tuesday praised the immense role being played by Ethiopia in fostering the African unity with its unwavering resolve to pan-Africanism and regional integration.
Ethiopia’s role to this end was acknowledged and praised during a meeting between Jemal Beker Abdula, Ambassador of Ethiopia designated to Tajikistan with residence in Islamabad, and Farrukh Sharifzoda, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
On the occasion, Ambassador Jemal, who is also a non-resident Ambassador to Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic with residence in Islamabad, presented copies of his credentials to, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
Both the officials during the meeting discussed a full spectrum of the bilateral relations, and explored various areas of cooperation to advance the mutual interests for further strengthening the bilateral ties.
The Ambassador, on the occasion, highlighted the priority and focus given by Ethiopia to African unity in its foreign policy to integrate the region in the spirit of pan-Africanism which was found and flourished from Ethiopia.
He briefed the Minister that Ethiopia has successfully hosted the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in the last week which saw presence of Heads of State and Government as well as First ladies.
The Ambassador said his country is the third diplomatic hub in the world and called as a land of origins, a cradle of pan-Africanism and a beacon of prosperity and development in the world.
Ethiopia is progressing by leaps and bounds under the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who brought about transformational changes through the home-grown solutions to the domestic problems, the Ambassador said while highlighting comprehensive reforms carried out by Ethiopia in economic, social and legal spheres that helped the country achieve impressive economic progress.
The Ambassador expressed his government’s commitment to strengthen its relations with the Republic of Tajikistan by enhancing bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation in trade, science and technology, health, education, climate change and security.
In response, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs affirmed the commitment of the Government of the Republic Tajikistan for enhancing bilateral cooperation with Ethiopia in business, trade, investment, security, aviation, education, health, climate change and cultural areas.
The Deputy Minister particularly lauded the crucial role being played by Ethiopia in fostering the African unity and congratulated the Government of Ethiopia for hosting global leaders on the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in an efficient manner.
