UK Deputy PM pledges stronger economic, dev’t partnerships with Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, February 17, 2025 (FMC) – Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner of the United Kingdom has pledged to strengthen her country’s partnership with Ethiopia, emphasizing economic growth, business collaboration, and development cooperation.
It is noteworthy that Deputy PM Angela Rayner has arrived in the Ethiopian capital in the early hours of this morning where she was warmly welcomed by her Ethiopian counterpart Mr. Temesgen Truneh.
After her arrival in Addis Ababa, she reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to working closely with Ethiopia to drive mutual prosperity.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rayner highlighted the UK’s existing cooperation with Ethiopia’s government and private sector. She expressed her ambition to deepen these ties, particularly in trade, investment, health, and education, to benefit the people of both nations.
“I’m delighted to be in Ethiopia this week to meet with leaders and businesses. As Deputy Prime Minister, I’m here to demonstrate the UK’s commitment to the region and promote ambitions for partnerships and mutual economic growth,” she noted.
Deputy PM Rayner added, “The UK already works closely with the government and business in Ethiopia and I’m here to see how our two countries can work even more closely together. Benefiting the people of both our nations. I also want to see how our two countries are working together to improve health and education.”
During her visit, the UK Deputy PM is expected to meet with Ethiopian leaders and business representatives to explore new avenues for collaboration.
